Structure Modifications and Their Influences on Antitumor and Other Related Activities of Taxol and Its Analogs

Structure-activity relationship (SAR) of plant derived antitumor agents Taxol (paclitaxel) has been extensively explored in last two decades. Based on these results, more than ten paclitaxel derivatives and taxane based drug candidates have been developed and undergone clinical trials. In this review, major results in structure and antitumor activity of taxanes, especially paclitaxel analogues, with an emphasis on recent progress, were summarized.
