Bifurcation of the synthetic pathway affording total syntheses of picrotoxinin, picrotin and corianin from a common synthetic intermediate derived via the palladium catalyzed enyne cycloisomerization leads to the total synthesis of the picrotoxane sesquiterpene methyl picrotoxate.
