Periodontal Soft Tissue Expanders - A Review

Insufficient regeneration of missing bone and soft-tissue may present aesthetic or functional problems in patients indicative for dental implant surgery by using several techniques like bone augumentation ,bone substitutes and guided tissue regeneration.Soft tissue expansion is a technique used by plastic and restorative surgeons to cause the body to grow additional skin ,bone or the other tissues.Extensive bone augumentation procedures are frequently carried out prior to implant surgery.Preaugmentation of soft tissue expansion with expanders leads to higher functional microvessel density in the tissue above the augmentation material and thus to more rapid osseointegration and inceases the probability of success in peri-implant bone augmentation.
