Endovenous radiofrequency,laser in combination with surgery for treatment of venous insufficiency in lower extremity

Objective To assess the safety and efficacy of endovenous radiofrequency,laser in combination with surgery for treatment of venous insufficiency in lower extremities.Methods Thirty-four venous insufficiencies of lower limbs in 33 consecutive patients were treated with combined radiofrequency,endovenous laser treatment (EVLT) and surgical strategies.Ten limbs were diagnosed as simple great saphenous vein (GSV) insufficiency,primary deep venous insufficiency (PDVI) in 20 limbs,May-Thurner's syndrome in 2 limbs,and Klippel-Trenauney syndrome in 2 limbs.There were 3 therapeutic methods used in this series:(1)GSV trunk radiofrequency (RF) combined with external banding of the first femoral venous valve,high ligation of GSV and EVLT for tributary varicose veins in 4 lower limbs.(2)GSV trunk RF combined with high ligation of GSV and EVLT in 28 lower limbs.(3)GSV trunk RF combined with high ligation of external vein and EVLT in 2 lower limbs.Results [WT5”BZ]All patients were followed-up for 1-15 months (mean 3.27 months) with satisfactory results.Conclusion EVLT is a novel minimally invasive treatment with advantages of safety,effectiveness,easy-operation and leaving no scar.The indicative range will be expended by EVLT in combination with surgical strategies.
