The expression of TGF-β_1 and MMP-1 in human pathological scar tissues

Objective To study the expressions of transforming growth factor-β_1(TGF-β_1) and matrix metalloproteinase-1(MMP-1) in human hypertrophic scars and keloids.Methods The expressions of TGF-β_1 and MMP-1 in 10 specimen of pathological scars were analyzed with SP method,which were compared with those in healthy skin.Results The expressions of TGF-β_1 and MMP-1 were significantly higher in the pathological scars than those in healthy skin(P0.05).Conclusion The expressions of TGF-β_1 and MMP-1 in hypertrophic scars and keloids were significantly increased,which is responsible for producing pathological scars.
