C_(21) Steroidal Compounds in Roots of Cynanchum paniculatum

AIM: To study C_(21) steroidal constituents in the roots of Cynanchum paniculatum Bge..METHOD: The constituents isolated from the EtOAc fraction from EtOH ext.of Cynanchum paniculatum by column chromatography on silica gel,ODS and Sephadex LH-20,were identified on the basis of spectroscopic analysis.RESULT: Seven C_(21) steroidal compounds,3β,14-dihydroxy-14β-pregn-5-en-20-one(Ⅰ),glaucogenin C(Ⅱ),glaucogenin A(Ⅲ),glaucogenin D(Ⅳ),neocynapanogenin F(Ⅴ),glaucogenin C 3-O-β-D-thevetoside(Ⅵ) and neocynapanogenin F 3-O-β-D-oleandropyranoside(Ⅶ) were isolated and identified.CONCLUSION: Compounds Ⅲ,Ⅳ and Ⅵ were isolated from this plant for the first time.
