To evaluate the adjuvant effect and mechanism of aluminum hydroxide nanoparticles,three-week-old commercial chickens were immunized with aluminum hydroxide nanoparticles and conventional aluminum hydroxide adjuvant inactivated vaccine respectively. The hemagglutination inhibition antibody titer,CD4 and CD8 mRNA from peripheral blood lymphocytes on days 2 to 24 after immunization were compared.Aluminum hydroxide nanoparticles adjuvant and conventional aluminum adjuvant induced antibodies with peak titer were 6.67±0.58 and 4.33±0.58 on day 10 post-immunization,and the effective protective immune period was continuous for more than 9 days and less than 7 days, respectively.Compared with the conventional aluminum adjuvant, the aluminium hydroxide nanoparticles adjuvant induced to produce much higher CD4 and CD8 mRNA on days 4 to 17 and 8 to 24 after immunization, respectively. The results demonstrated that the aluminium hydroxide nanoparticles adjuvant could initiate humoral immune and cellular immune response strongly than the conventional aluminum adjuvant.
