[Objective]To investigate the significance of auditory brainstem response(ABR)V wave applied to audiometry.[Methods]The hearing of 594 ears(325 subjects)and 80 ears(40 normal persons)were tested by ABR V response threshold and pure tone audiometry.[Results]ABR V response sub-threshold 10~20dB of 40 normal persons amount to objective hearing. As to subjective hearing test,there were 66 ears(11%)with moderate hearing loss,110 ears(17%)with moderately severe deaf,172 ears(29%)with severe deaf,and 255 ears(43%)with life-threating deaf in 594 ears(325 subjects);For the objective hearing test,there were 167ears(28%)with normal hearing,154 ears(26%)with mild deaf,94 ears(16%)with moderate deaf,76 ears(13%)with moderately severe deaf,55 ears(9%)with severe deaf,and 48 ears(8%)with life-threating deaf;158 ears(26.6%)of pure tone audiometry were according with ABR V response threshold,but 436 ears(73.4%)were not,including 269 ears(45.3%)of exaggerated deaf and 167 ears(28.1%)of malingering deafness.[Conclusion]ABR V wave response threshold and pure tone audiometry can estimate the actual hearing more objectively,which are important to identify the exaggerated deaf and malingering deafness.
