Virtual surgery is an important medical research direction in virtual reality technology.The cranio-maxillofacial surgical planning can decrease the risk of cranio-maxillofacial surgery and increase the operation precision by analyzing the surgical plan and steps for individual patient.Regarding the mandible angle osteotomy as its research object,the article focuses on the virtual osteotomy technology in cranio-maxillofacial surgical planning. The skull is reconstructed from the DICOM CT image data set by MC algorithm,and then the 3D model of ramus of the mandible is separated from skull model for improving the speed and efficiency of virtual osteotomy calculation.Virtual osteotomy is performed on the mandible angle with the presented osteotomy algorithm. Finally the virtual osteotomy results show that the 3D reconstruction and virtual osteotomy are perfectly realized in our program.
