Methyl p-methyltoluenesulfonate (MeOTs) was used as cationic catalyst for thermal polymerization of a bisphenol A/aniline-based benzoxazine (BA-a). Thermal cationic polymerization of BA-a was investigated by using gel time, FT-IR, DSC and TGA. Non-isothermal DSC scan of BA-a with 5 % mass ratio of MeOTs as initiator showed multiple peaks for the main exotherm. The appearance indicates that multiple cure reactions occur simultaneously or sequentially. The curing peak temperature was lowered from 222.91 ℃ to 137.03 ℃.
