Purpose:analyze the influence of family environment upon student's optimism and pessimism and the mediator effect of self-concept.Methods: Life Orientation Inventory,Self-concept Inventory and Parents' Rearing Style Inventory are used for 502 high school students.Results: there were significant differences of effect that parents' educational levels play a role in students' optimism-pessimism;there was direct and indirect influence through self-concept of parents' acceptance upon students' optimism-pessimism;parents' rearing styles play some effect on students' concept,and students' concept has some influence over their optimism-pessimism.Conclusions: variability of family plays a role in high school students' optimism-pessimism,and part of mediator effect of self-concept is significant partly.
