SPECTROSCOPY WITH PULSE ANALYZERS

Scintillation probes have largely replaced proportional counters in the spectroscopy of high-energy radiation with pulse analyzers. NaI(T1), CsI(T1), or orinanic crystals and plastic scintillators are generally used in gamma spectroscopy, arthracene crystals for beta spectroscopy, and CsI(T1) crystals, Frisch gridded chambers, and semiconductor chambers for alpha particles. These radiation detection instruments are briefly considered. (auth)
