摘要
With an aging population that will require more rehabilitation and assistance, the need for robotics is evident. Robots will be able to reduce repetitive, fatiguing, and injury-prone work and will also be able to increase independence for patients and improve efficiency for therapists. Robots combined with virtual reality give patients more motivation in therapy, leading to better neurologic recovery and ultimately a better quality of life. When patients require assistance in activities of daily living, robots can reduce the caregiver burden. Nevertheless, there are still many areas requiring improvement, from technological maturity to cost and social acceptance.
