摘要
A novel method for computing the power of a rotating gliding arc (RGA) is proposed and validated using Argon (Ar) at various flow rates ranging from 10 to 45 lpm (liters per minute). The proposed algorithm for active power calculations takes into account the nonlinear voltage–current ( $V$ – $I$ ) characteristic of an arc. This method is subsequently validated experimentally, demonstrating a substantial agreement between the measured and calculated values of power under various flow regimes. The power derived from the RGA is utilized to compute the resistance and inductance of the system. Circuit parameter computation is performed to establish a lumped model for the arc, focusing solely on power considerations. This lumped model is unique for a specific flow rate. The main text provides detailed explanations of the obtained values, aligning well with our intuitive understanding of the RGA.
