A100H boehmite sol was prepared by sol-gel method using Cetyltrimethyl Ammonium Bromide (CTAB) as template and using Al (NO3)3 and NH3·H2O as raw materials. The samples were characterized by thermogravimetry-differential scanning calorimetry analysis (TG-DSC), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Transmission electron microscope analysis (TEM), and N2 adsorption - desorplion isotherm measurement. The results showed that the alpha alumina could be obtained by calcining for two hours at 1 100℃. The BET specific surface area and the volume of the pores had the maximum value. The average particle diameter was about 17 nm and the size of the pores was about 16 nm.
