Objective To investigate the effects of catalpol from Rehmannia glutinosa Libosch.on blood glucose of alloxan-induced diabetic mice.Methods Catalpol was ig administered for 2 weeks at the dose of 200,100,50 mg/kg to observe its effects on blood glucose,blood lipid and glucose tolerance in alloxan-induced diabetic mice.Results Catalpol significantly decreased the blood glucose,improved the oral glucose tolerance and blood lipid level in alloxan-induced diabetic mice in a dose-dependent manner.Conclusion Catalpol has obvious hypoglycemic activity in alloxan-induced diabetic mice.
