【Objective】In order to identify novel genes involved in upland cotton(Gossypium hirsutum L.),plant stress adaptation, expression of GhPHDs under different kinds of abiotic stresses, such as drought, high salt and low temperature were analyzed.【Method】 According to the reported 28 GhPHDs,specific primers were synthesized.Semi-quantitative RT-PCR method was used to analyze expression patterns of GhPHDs in cotton seed, root, stem, leaf and fiber(15DPA)and under abiotic stresses such as drought, high salt(150 mmol/L NaCl) and low temperature(4℃).【Result】 The 28 GhPHDs showed different tissue-specific expression patterns in seed, root, stem, leaf and fiber(15DPA)of cotton. The proportion of genes expressed in seed was 85.7% and 35.7% in fiber. These genes were differentially regulated by various abiotic stresses. The expressions of GhPHD1,GhPHD6 and GhPHD22 were activated by drought stress, and GhPHD1,GhPHD16 were up-regulated by high salt stress.GhPHD9 was up-regulated by low temperature.Other genes didn't show obvious response to these three abiotic stresses.【Conclusion】 It implies that GhPHDs may play important roles during upland cotton plant adapted to abiotic stresses.
