Objective To study the constituents of Abrus cantoniensis. Methods The constituents were isolated by chromatographic methods, their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic evidences. Results Eighteen compounds were purified and their structures were identified as: β-sitosterol (Ⅰ), lupeol (Ⅱ), ethyl protocatechuate (Ⅲ), daucosterol (Ⅳ), protocatechuic acid (Ⅴ), quebrachitol (Ⅵ), 7, 3′, 4′-trihydroxy-flavone (Ⅶ), adenine (Ⅷ), adenosine (Ⅸ), biflorin (Ⅹ), isobiflorin (Ⅺ), abrine ( ⅩⅡ), N, N, N-trimethyl tryptophan ( ⅩⅢ), soyasaponin Ⅰ ( ⅩⅣ), kaikasaponin Ⅲ ( ⅩⅤ), dehydroso- yasaponin Ⅰ ( ⅩⅥ), abrisaponin So_1 ( ⅩⅦ), betulinic acid ( ⅩⅧ). Conclusion Compounds Ⅲ, Ⅴ, Ⅶ-Ⅺ and ⅩⅧ are isolated from the plants of Abrus Adans for the first time and thirteen compounds are obtained from this plant for the first time except Ⅰ, ⅩⅡ, and ⅩⅣ- ⅩⅥ.
