OBJECTIVE To establish an HPLC method to determine the content of the S- enantiomer in R- 1-( 1- naphthyl) ethylamine. METHODS The separation was performed on a Daicel Chiralcel OJ- H column( 250 mm × 4. 6 mm,5 μm) with n-hexane- ethanol- ethanolamine( 95∶5∶0. 1) as the mobile phase at a flow rate of 1. 0 mL·min- 1. The detection wavelength was 222 nm with the column temperature of 25 ℃. RESULTS R- 1-( 1- naphthyl) ethylamine and S- 1-( 1- naphthyl) ethylamine were well separated. The linear range of R- 1-( 1- naphthyl) ethylamine was 0. 02- 2. 0 μg·mL- 1( r =0. 9998). The LOD was 0. 1 ng and the LOQ was 0. 3 ng. CONCLUSION The method is quick,accurate and sensitive for the determination and control of the enantiomer of R- 1-( 1- naphthyl) ethylamine.
