NOx removal from diesel engine exhaust was experimentally investigated using simulated gases with non-thermal plasma in a dielectric barrier discharge reactor.The effect of a non-thermal plasma-assisted BaO/Al2O3 catalyst on the NOx removal was also investigated.The experimental results show that the non-thermal plasma alone does not effectively reduce the NOx but does oxidize NO to NO2.The conversion efficiency of NO to NO2 increases with increasing discharge voltage and oxygen volume.The NOx reduction efficiency was enhanced by the presence of propylene(C3H6).The NOx removal was increased by 68% at 300℃ by the plasma assisted of catalyst.
