Objective To investigate the dynamic changes of serum matrix metalloproteinase-3(MMP-3) and matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9) at various stages in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage. Methods The contents of serum MMP-3 and MMP-9 of 49 patients with intracerebral hemorrhage and 30 healthy people(control group) were measured respectively by ELISA during 24h,48h and 7 days. Results The levels of serum MMP-3 and MMP-9 during 24h,48h and 7 days of the intracerebral hemorrhage were higher than those in the control group(P0.05).Between any two groups of the three degrees with hematoma volume of intracerebral hemorrhage, the changes of the serum MMP-3 and MMP-9 had statistic difference(P 0.05).There was also statistic difference between any two groups of the three degrees with different clinical neurological function deficiency of intracerebral hemorrhage(P0.05).Conclusion The serum MMP-3 and MMP-9 may contribute to the pathologic course in the early stage of intracerebral hemorrhage. The levels of serum MMP-3 and MMP9 are correlated with the clinical course of the disease and prognosis.
