In order to provide some meaningful suggestions for the crashworthiness design of reinforced concrete structures, performances of concrete columns under vehicle impact and other factors were studied. A finite element model of vehicle and reinforced concrete column was built using software LS-DYNA and analyzed using the parameter analysis method to study effects of impact velocity, angle, concrete axial compressive strength, moment of section inertia, and stirrup ratio on dynamic response of reinforced concrete column under vehicle impact. Influences of different parameters on impact forces were further studied. It is found that the displacement response of the column increases with the increase of impact angle; it reduces significantly with higher section mo-ment of inertia and axial compressive strength of concrete; the effect of changing stirrup ratio on the response is not clear. Impact forces are influenced by the impact velocity, angle, vehicle tonnage and column section moment of inertia. Conclusion is that the obtained results for performance of reinforced concrete column under vehicle impact with numerical simulation method conform with the lawof conservation of energy and are reliable.
