Cellulase can apparently improve the drainage of bleached wheat pulp, the mechanism of this action is different from that of conventional chemical agent. Wheat pulp treated by cellulase has better papermaking properties and batter paper formation. Cellulase treating action is mainly determined by the pulp抯 pH, temperature. The improvement of pulp drainage mostly happened at the beginning 30 minutes of the enzyme treatment, during this time a small yield reduction within 0.4% appears. Handsheets treated by cellulase show that there are insignificant losses in physical strength properties compared with the control.
