Objective: To compare the efficacy of Paracetamol and Pethidine in treatment of renal colic Methods: 300 patients were divided into Paracetamol and Pethidine groups randomly, received either 2 ml of Paracetamol or 100 mg Pethidine im(intramuscularly) Evaluations were performed at 0 h,05 h,1 h and 6h after treatment Results: Paracetamol and Pethidine were efficient for renal colic, but there was no significant difference between Paracetamol and Pethidine with the treatment efficacy over time Conclusion: Paracetamol and Pethidine are equally effective in the treatment of renal colic, but Paracetamol is more convenient and safer than Pethidine
