Health-Care Delivery And Resource Allocation

Abstract Increasingly, medical ethics involves decisions concerning the allocation of healthcare resources and the institutional arrangements for making those decisions. The key concepts of health-care resource allocation and cost need to be defined because they shape the moral and policy discussion. This chapter considers different criteria for evaluating allocation of health-care resources. Two types of models of allocation are examined: efficiency models and ethical models.
