First, three dimensional porous silicon-based sponges were prepared by sol-gel method by using methyl trimethoxy-silane (MTMS), dimethyldimethoxy-silane (DMDMS) and n-ethoxysilane (TEOS) as reactants. Then, the silicon-based sponge material was calcined at 500 °C for 2 hours to prepare three-dimensional porous silica microsphere cylinder. The experimental results of infrared spectrum, wide-angle X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscope showed that the cylinder was mainly composed of interconnected silica microspheres. Under the same conditions, the porous silica microspheres cylinder still had a good removal effect on methylene blue dye after recycling for 10 times. It showed good reusability.
