Abstract To investigate the laser ignition law of B/KNO 3 , based on the solid-phase reaction, a simulation model of the laser ignition of B/KNO 3 was established by using COMSOL software, and the ignition delay time and ignition threshold of B/KNO 3 were simulated and calculated under the conditions of different laser powers, spot diameters, and rising edge times. The results show that the ignition delay time of B/KNO 3 is shortened with the increase of laser power and increased with the increase of spot diameter. The laser ignition of B/KNO 3 was carried out by using a laser with a wavelength of 808 nm and a power density of 194.28 W.cm −2 . It was found that the ignition delay time of B/KNO 3 was 112 ms and the ignition threshold was 274.75 mJ.
