In this research project the analysis of commercial diesel emissions and mixtures made with biofuel in proportions B10 and B20, as well as torque and power tests to evaluate the performance of commercial diesel fuel and mixtures were made. of biofuel, these tests were conducted in the city of Quito that has a height of 2810 meters above sea level.
The tests were carried out in a van of the year 2013 with the contribution of the Technological Transfer Center for Training and Research in Vehicle Emission Control (CCICEV) in which different dynamic tests were carried out, on board and on a dynamometer. The on-board tests with the gas analyzer for commercial diesel and biodiesel fuels B10 and B20 provided the results of contamination, from the CO it is observed that the tendency is to increase by applying biodiesel B10 in 5.4% and B20 in 17.2% respectively respecting the baseline that was commercial diesel. For the HC, the biofuel B20 reduces 43% in relation to the diesel, while the B10 shows the reduction of 20.6% in relation to the commercial diesel; as the NOx increase in biofuels B10 by 16% and B20 by 8.5% in relation to diesel. The torque and power tests give us as a result that the use of biodiesel B10 generate 0.67% greater power, while with the diesel B20 increases by 2.23%, in relation to commercial diesel. The torque test results in B10 biodiesel generating 0.98% higher torque and the B20 diesel increases by 1.82% in relation to commercial diesel. The results obtained show that biodiesel was friendly to the environment and helps reduce polluting emissions.
