Honey in Germany After the first appearance of the quarantine organism Monilinia fructicola (Wint.) Honey in Europe in French orchards along the river Rhone in 2001, the presence of M. fructicola in German fruit growing regions, especially in the south western areas, was surveyed. In a period from July to September 2002 a total of 383 samples of Monilinia -infested stone fruits, apples and pears were collected and analysed for the presence of M. fructicola -specific DNA by nested PCR. All samples tested proved to be not infested with M. fructicola . These results confirm, that there is no evidence of Monilinia fructicola in Germany.
