The characteristics of earthquake ground motion such as the
duration of strong motion, frequency contents, and the max.
ground acceleration influence the response of structures. However,
the max. ground motion is usually considered alone in obtaining
the response spectrum.
Since the effect of relatively long duration and large frequency
contents is considerable, especially for moderate and weak
earthquakes, it is desirable to consider all factors affecting
the response of structures. In this study twenty earthquake data
are investigated to evaluate the influence of characteristics of
ground motions.
