The effect of halogen addition on the performance characteristics of lithium/sulfur oxychloride battery systems

Investigations were conducted in this laboratory to determine the effect of halogen addition on both the performance and safety characteristics of the Li/SOCl/sub 2/ and Li/SO/sub 2/Cl/sub 2/ battery systems. Both halogen and interhalogen compounds were tested as codepolarizers in these studies. Initial tests were performed using AA size cells as the test vehicle. 10 refs.
