Comparison of mephentermine and norepinephrine infusions for prevention of post-spinal hypotension during elective caesarean delivery– A randomised, double-blind trial

Highlights•Norepinephrine and mephentermine both have α- and β-adrenergic agonist activity.•Prophylactic infusions were compared during caesarean with spinal anaesthesia.•Mephentermine group had higher umbilical artery and venous pH and base excess.•Mephentermine group required higher volume of infusion than norepinephrine group.•Direct calculation of equipotent doses of norepinephrine and mephentermine is needed.
