Objective:To compare the efficacy and safety of Escitalopram and Mirtazapine in the treatment of depression.Methods:68 patients with depression by CCMD-3 were randomly allocated to two groups with Escitalopram or Mirtazapine for 8 weeks.HAMD CGI-SI scale and TESS scale were used to evaluate efficacy and side effects respectively before and at the ends of 1,2,4,6,8 weeks of treatment.Results: The total effective rates for the Escitalopram and Mirtazapine groups were similar after 8 weeks(P0.05).Incidence of side effects in the Escitalopram group was lower than that in the Mirtazapine group.Conclusions: The results suggest that Escitalopram is effective and safe anti-depression drug.
