Objective To study the clinical efficacy and safety of atorvastatin(lipitor) and fluvastatin(lescol) on hypercholesterolemia. Methods One hundred patients with hypercholestrolemia were divided into atorvastatin group(n=50) and fluvastatin group(n=50).The lipid and safety was studied after treatment for 6 weeks. Results Atorvastatin and fluvastatin could significantly reduced the levels of TC,TG,LDL-C(P0.01 or P0.05).Atorvastatin was better than fluvastatin in reducing TC,TG,LDL-C(P0.05).Both agents increased HDL-C(P0.05) without significant difference between two groups. Both agents had little side-effect and good tolerance. Conclusion Atorvastatin is better than fluvastatin in reducing the levels of TC,TG,LDL-C,but is similary in increasing HDL-C.Both agents have good reliability.
