Objective To explore the expression of Bcl-2 and Bax in tongue squamous cell carcinoma. Methods Fifty-five cases of tongue tissue with follow-up information were selected, including 45 cases of tongue squamous cell carcinoma,10 cases of chronic glossitis tissue and 20 cases of tongue tissues adjacent to cancer.Semi-quantitative immunohistochemistry method(Envision) was used to detect the expression of Bcl-2 in these tissues. Results The positive rates of Bcl-2 and Bax in tongue squamous cell carcinoma were 82.22 % and 62.22%,repsectively.There was significant difference of the expression of Bcl-2 and Bax among tongue squamous cell carcinoma and tongue tissues adjacent to cancer and chronic glossitis tissue, and the expression of Bcl-2 was negatively correlated with that of Bax in tongue squamous cell carcinoma tissues(r=-0.324,P0.01).Conclusions The expression intensity of Bcl-2 and Bax in tongue squamous cell carcinoma was correlated with the degree of differentiation. The study demonstrated that there were correlations among the occurrence and evolution of tongue squamous cell carcinoma. It will be the target of gene therapy in tongue squamous cell carcinoma.
