X-ray diffraction analysis, viscosity and refining of the glass in which the limestone was substituted by wollastonite were investigated. Results show that this substitution is of benefit to saving energy, reducing glass viscosity and also improving refining. The mechanism of fluxing effect of wollastonite was analyzed on the base of its structure.Calculation indicates that the energy consumeption decreases from 249.01 kJ/mol down to 131.35 kJ/mol due to the subsitution of limestone by wollastonite,i.e.energy consumption of original glass is 1.88 times higher than that substituted by wollastonite. It proves the energy-saving effect of the wollastonite in theory.
