High purity BaTiO3 nanocrystals were synthesized by molten salt method at different temperatures for different holding time, using barium chloride, barium nitrate, barium acetate, barium carbonate, barium hydroxide octahydrate and titanium dioxide as raw materials. The as-prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction and SEM,the possible influence of different raw materials on the phase transformation dynamics were studied. The results show that all groups fit JMAK and pure interface nucleation models very well, which means these two models are the generic growth kinetics in the case of the molten salt method.Ba( NO3)2 and Ba( CH3COO)2 groups fit contracting spherical interface and random nucleation and rapid growth models, but the other two groups do not fit. This suggests that different decomposition temperatures of the used precursors might have effects on the synthesis dynamics process.
