Three years ago Stanley and Derald Sue published an article on Chinese-American Personality and Mental Health which raised an important and provocative perspective on the subject. * I t elicited a caustic critique and response from Ben Tong and has since been reprinted twice.2 The article's wide exposure should have provoked more public discussion than it has, especially in the light of Tong's rather incomplete and unsatisfactory criticisms and the timely interest the article should hold for Asian American readers.
