The objective of the present study is to investigate the arresting effect of fatigue crack propagation of the various temporary repair methods. They include the method for machining the stophole, cold expansion of the stophole and denting of the crack tip. The testing results were presented by the ratio of crack propagation life with and without temporary repair. Concerning the stophole, the maximum arresting effect is expected when the crack is repaired with larger stophole while the fatigue crack is short. Among the tested methods indentation of the crack tip inducing the sufficient plastic deformation around it was found to be most effective to arrest further fatigue crack propagation.
