Analysis of Reagent Purity: 1H NMR, 13C NMR, melting point, elemental analysis. Preparative Methods: [Ru(OAc)2(p-cymene)] is obtained from [RuCl2(p-cymene)]2 and KOAc in PhMe. [Ru(O2CMes)2(p-cymene)] and [Ru(O2CAd)2(p-cymene)] are obtained from [RuCl2(p-cymene)]2, K2CO3, and 2,4,6-trimethylbenzoic acid1 or 1-AdCO2H,2 respectively, in PhMe. Purification: filtration over a short pad of Celite in CH2Cl2. Where required, the complexes can be recrystallized from a mixture of n-hexane/acetone (5:1) at −20 °C. Handling, Storage, and Precautions: rather air-stable, extended storage is recommended under inert gas atmosphere.
