This paper presents two kinds of Xaar-type shared wall actuators for inkjet printing: monolithic and chevron-type. A brief review of design and principle of operation of such devices is given. Analysis of the acoustic resonances of the lead titanate zirconate (PZT) ceramic actuators used as an active element in the printhead is presented. Furthermore, functional performance of the actuators was investigated by means of stroboscopic analysis.
