摘要
0536 Some researches reported that the positive relationship was shown between weight gain after the official weigh-in and wrestling performance in competitive wrestlers. Wrestlers should be required to achieve weight gain by appropriate feeding for better performance. PURPOSE: To investigate the effect of feeding on body weight recovery following an acute weight loss in amateur wrestlers. METHODS: Ten male wrestlers (age: 22.1 ± 1.9yrs, weight class: 55–84kg) controlling their body weight to their weight categories toward the Japanese Championships participated in this study. Body weight was measured on every morning from one week before the official weigh-in to the day on competition. Dietary intake was also assessed using a dietary record in combination with photography. The magnitude of weight gain and the amount of nutritional intake were estimated for 12-hr, from the official weigh-in on the previous evening to the next early morning of the competition. RESULTS: Wrestlers lost 6.8 ± 2.9% (2.2–6.9kg) of body weight for 1-week toward the competition. Energy and carbohydrate intake were 34.5 ± 12.3 kcal/kg BW (620–2959 kcal) and 5.2 ± 2.4g/kg BW (100–591g), respectively. Water intake from refeeding diet and beverage was 3.52 ± 0.90kg (1.97–4.97kg). Wrestlers gained 5.0 ± 1.8%(1.3–4.8kg) of their body weight. The magnitude of weight gain was positively correlated with the amounts of carbohydrate intake (r = 0.77, p<0.01). Moreover, it tended to correlate with water intake (r = 0.61, p = 0.06). CONCLUSIONS: These data show that sufficient carbohydrate and water intake over 12-hr recovery period may contribute to gain their body weight rapidly.
