Management Of Cancer Therapy Related Cardiac Dysfunction (CTRCD): A Case Based Review

With an ever-expanding repertoire of cancer therapies, cardiologists increasingly encounter patients with cancer therapy related cardiac dysfunction (CTRCD). This can range from asymptomatic mild left ventricular dysfunction to severe symptomatic congestive heart failure. A multidisciplinary approach involving oncologists and cardiologists in needed in the management of these patients. This case-based review provides a practical guide for clinicians regarding the diagnosis and management of CTRCD associated with commonly used cancer treatments - anthracyclines, human epidermal receptor 2 (HER2) targeted therapies, and immune checkpoint inhibitors.
