摘要
Noise pollution is one of the biggest vital human-environmental issues because of detrimental consequences on human health and work performance. As a consequence, porous substances have received significant interest, considering they provide great sound insulation characteristics with low density and numerous particular strengths. The main purpose of this study is to identify soundproofing materials by showing their great physical, chemical, and mechanical properties. This chapter also addresses understanding and comparing sound insulation materials' range and includes reviews on the large number of soundproofing foam applications. The influence of the noise reduction index and frequency on sound transmission loss is discussed in detail. The polymer foaming and processing and synthesis methods for polymeric foams is investigated. The application of sound insulation foams is also reviewed. This article might also offer the theoretical basis for the programs and trends of soundproofing polymeric materials such as polypropylene, polyurethane, polyethylene, and polymethyl methacrylate foams.
