Assessing Postoperative Benefits of Preoperative Adductor Canal Blocks With Liposomal Bupivacaine in Patients Undergoing Total Knee Arthroplasty

In a randomized clinical trial with 100 patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA), Malige et al [1] compared the postoperative benefits of liposomal bupivacaine (LB) versus ropivacaine for preoperative adductor canal blocks (ACB) and showed that the ACB with LB provided an increased postoperative pain control improvement, shortened hospital length of stay, decreased inpatient opioid consumption, and improved Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index questionnaire scores.
