Objective: To elucidate the pathomechanism of radicular pain of lumbar disc herniation.Method: The PLA 2 activity in disc ,ligamentum flavum and epidural fat removed at surgery were biochemically assayed.Result: The level of PLA 2 activity in herniated discs,ligamentum flavum and epidural fat were significantly higher than that in the normal samples ( P 0.001),and the correlation among them were satistically significant(r 1=0.6863, P =0.001;r 2=0.7388, P 0.001,r 3=0.6113, P 0.05).Conclusion: The high level of PLA 2 activity in herniated disc,ligamentum flavum and epidural fat can induce in radicular pain.
