Progress of EMMPRIN-MMPs effect on ventricular remodeling

Ventricular remodeling is an important pathological process of cardiovascular diseases,in which heart function develops from compensated to decompensated.With the important role of matrix metalloproteinases(MMPs) in ventricular extracellular matrix(ECM) remodeling observed,there was an increasing attention to the regulation of MMPs synthesis and activation.Extracellular matrix metalloproteinase inducer(EMMPRIN) has been reported to induce and moderate the synthesis of MMPs in some tissues,which also aroused an intense interesting in whether EMMPRIN-MMPs can affect ventricular remodeling.This paper will review recent studies of this pathway on ventricular remodeling.
