This paper has mainly discussed the effects of glycerol, when used as the solvent to recycle the catalyst,on the conversion and selectivity of the process of ethylene glycol (EG) synthesized by catalytic hydration of ethylene oxide. The results of the experiments have been analyzed with the help of statistical software. The research shows that glycerol doesn't take part in the original reaction and its effects on the conversion and selectivity are not important. So glycerol can be used as the solvent in place of EG. Finally the better reaction conditions are found with the solvent of glycerol.
