Objective To explore the relationship between arterial stiffness and cardiac function in patients with hypertension.Methods 120 hypertension patients with a mean age of(64.89±10.14)(range from 42 to 85)80 male and 40 female,and were divided into four groups,the cardiac function I,II,III,IV level as the experimental group,100 healthy people as normal control group according to the New York Heart Association cardiac function classification.Using automatic pulse wave velocity(PWV) system to determine all subjects carotid-femoral artery(BaPWV) as index to reflect arterial stiffness,compare difference of arterial stiffness among normal group and different cardiac function group.Results After adjusting age,sex,blood sugar and lipid level,the results demonstrated that cardiac function had positive relationship with BaPWV(P0.01),the worse the cardiac function,the higher the PWV were.PWV in normal group,cardiac functionⅠ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ and Ⅳ group were(8.5±0.79) m/s,(10.02±1.31) m/s,(11.94±1.91) m/s,(14.68±1.38) m/s and(16.38±1.71) m/s,respectively.Conclusion Arterial stiffness reflected by PWV had close relationship with cardiac function in patients with hypertension,regression of arterial stiffness may be helpful for cardiac function.
