Objective To observe the antitussive, expectorant and antasthmatic effects of keerkang oral liquid in experimental animals. Methods Mice or guinea pigs were divided into three groups: ① control group which was intragastrically administred with saline,② tested group which was intragastrically administred with different concentration of keerkang oral liquid,③ positive group which was intragastrically administred with acute bronchitis syrup, ammonium chloride and fufang anchajian mahuang tables for the tests of antitussive, expectorant and antiasthamtic roles respectively. The cough latency of mice stimulated by ammonia and the number of cough in 3 min were detected to evaluate antitussive role;the phenol red excretin text to evaluate the expectorant effect;and the asthma latency of guinea pigs induced by the mixed liquor of acetylcholine and histamine to evaluate antiasthmatic effect. Results Keerkang oral liquid signifficantely prolonged the latency of cough;reduced the number of cough in 3 min;increased phenol red excretion;prolonged the latency of asthma. Conclusion Keerkang oral liquid has antitussive, expectorant and antiasthmatic effects in the experimental animals.
